Concrete Coatings

If you are tired of looking at the same, dull concrete, there are solutions!

Concrete coatings can add instant color, gloss, protection and appeal to your otherwise boring grey concrete.  There are several coatings to choose from with benefits and price differences to consider.  Your AAA Action Painting Representative can discuss the best options for your unique situation.

Concrete Painting

Concrete painting is usually the least expensive option for concrete coatings and adds instant color and interest to your driveway, garage, walkways, patios and basement floors. Painting provides a broad spectrum of bold color choices while stains offer a more subtle look that lasts longer.

Concrete Stain:

Concrete Stain offers a more permanent solution to the issue of dull, grey surfaces.  Concrete stain is more expensive than painting because it is more labor intensive in preparing the surface to accept the stain.  However, lower maintenance usually makes concrete staining a good value compared to painting techniques.  Stains, like paint, can be applied with a slip-resistant additive.  They come in a variety of subtle colors with an earth-tone palette.

The choice of paint vs. stain will depend on the look you want, the maintenance you are willing to perform, and the budget you can afford.

Typically, painted coatings must be maintained because they are not long lasting and may chip or peel over time.

Concrete Sealing:

Sealers, sometimes referred to as clear coats, help protect against color changes and untimely wear.  Sealers also help resist stains by providing a barrier against stains penetrating the porous concrete surface.  Sealing is typically more expensive than stains due to the multi-step process but less than an epoxy coating.

Epoxy Coatings:

Epoxy coatings have gained popularity in the last decade and are a cost-effective way to cover unsightly, faded or stained concrete in walks, drives, garages, patios and basements.  Epoxy coatings resist shrinking and come in a variety of colors.  It can become slick when wet but a slip-resistant additive is available.  Epoxy coatings can turn your garage floor into an extension of your living area, adding color, hiding imperfections, and improving wear resistance.  A concrete coating is one of the most economical and aesthetically pleasing ways to enhance a plain concrete surface.    Epoxy increases resiliency to stains and tire marks and hides minor imperfections.  It is easy to clean and requires low maintenance..
